When Did Cabin Air Filter Change Location?

What model year did Lexus move the cabin air filter for the ES series from near the accelerator pedal to behind the glove compartment?

after 2001... So the facelifted 2002+ [along with all other toyota/lexus models] like the RX-series.

I'm actually on here for the first time in a while trying to locate where my cabin air filter is. I bought a Bosch cabin air filter thinking it was behind the glove box, but I couldn't tell. I have a 1997 es 300. If you could tell me that would be great and thank you in advance.

Per the first post in this thread, look near the accellerator pedal. The arrow in the attached diagram points to the filter.
