new-to-the-club Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Hi, I am going to ship our Lexus ES300 to Hawaii, but the shipping company won't take car if the tank has more than 1/4 tank of gas. I just fill the car up Monday and I like to know if I can siphon the gas out!
1990LS400 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I'll be surprised if you find people on this forum who have done this! Maybe try buying ten feet of windshield washer size hose and give it a try. But might want to have a repair shop or dealer do it. They might have a faster way and be better able to dispose of the fuel.

I called repair shops(Lexus dealer) & gas stations, they told me all I have to do is stick a tube in and siphon the gas out! I used different size tubes and actually got a certified siphon device(at Pep Boys), but, there seems to be some kind of anti-siphon set up, that I can't get the tube to the gasoline! My favored shop told me just run the engine until it goes below 1/4 tank! I am doing just that, but it seems taking forever!
cduluk Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I'm surprised there isn't a drain at the bottom of the tank somewhere.
LEXIRX330 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 How far would you have to drive it to just burn about 3/4's of the tank? If you filled it up on Monday maybe you only need to use up about 1/2 a tank by now.
