94 Lexus Help Plz

Hi everyone and thanks for taking the time to read this and give me your opinions.

I have a 1994 Lexus es300 and it was running great until a few days ago it idles rough and blows white smoke out of the exhaust and you can smell gas?? The check engine light comes on and blinks after driving for 5 to 10 mins and uses a ton of gas. I brought it to a shop and they said cylinder 4 and 6 are miss firing and I replaced the spark plugs and did not make a difference? I believe cylinder 4 and 6 are on the front is that correct?? Have been told it could be the head gasket don't have a ton of money to fix as I'm a single mom of two can someone please give me their opinion thanks

A couple of suggestions.....Did the technicians at the garage give you the code numbers that they read out of the cars computer. The experts on the forum would find those helpful in determining the engine problem.

Secondly, Did the same technicians tell you you might need a head gasket AFTER they put in the new plugs, or was that someone else?
