Nav Clock

The NAV setup screens allow you to select daylight savings time, etc., but I don't see anywhere where it asks you to set the CURRENT TIME. So obviously it knows the current time automatically. How can I find out what the CURRENT TIME is in the NAV so that I can set the clock on the dashboard to it? Personally I feel that the dashboard clock should be automatically set and synchronized to the NAV clock.

Yes, it would be nice to have it interconnected to the Nav system, but I'm sure that Lexus also thought about that feature and the added electronic expense wasn't worth it. :)

The NAV clock and the dashboard clock work on different systems and not everyone has the nav system. The way I set my dashboard clock is to tune to a public radio station around 4:00 or 5:00 pm and listen to the news progarm "All Things Considered" , which starts exactly on the hour. When the theme song starts, I hit the sync button on the clock. My clock looses a few seconds every month, so I sync it about once a month.

Or you can just look on a cell phone and get the network time...

In other Lexus vehicles the clock sets to the nav, thats why that menu option is there...but not on the ES.

The problem is I need to have the EXACT time to the fraction of a second(atomic time). As they say, "Time is Money"

I suppose I could set a destination on the NAV which is very near my current location (like at the end of the street) and then see on the NAV screen when I will arrive and use that as the "current time" for setting the dashboard clock.

In all seriousness, I was actually going to suggest this plan! I even thought about testing it myself to see if it would work. We are a dedicated bunch, aren't we. :) However, I concluded it was too much trouble. I still think the best way to sync the clock is to sync it at the top of the hour to a radio news program. That way you get an audible prompt and don't have to take your eyes off the road.
