Timing Belt And Waterpump Change Question.

Recommended Posts

For sure it needs a belt if it's never been done! At that mileage the water pump is a good idea too. The mechanic may see some weeping from the vent hole on the pump, which is another good indicator. Guide pulley bearings will get checked. Cam seals are usually not a problem and they are tough to get at because of the Vvti system.

Let him open it up and see, but get it done.

So i'm at 290,000km and I think its time to do my timing belt. Can someone tell me what parts does a mechanic usually replace besides timing belt and water pump? Other belrs? Rings?

i just recently did a full timing belt job about 2 months ago on my gs300 this was my list of parts below. I changed the pulley because ive read it is prone to leak once you do a timing belt job change. im planning to keep the vehicle for a while so a peace of mind is better than a giant oil spill all over the timing belt which will degrade the belt if left for a while.
