I would turn the key on my 96 Lexus es300 20 times in a row and it'd MAYYYBE try to start one time. I'd just hear 1 single click when I tried. Now that I installed a brand new starter, it makes a bunch of clicks and doesn't try to turn over. Here is the audio clip. Any idea?

It is quite possible it was only your battery to begin with. That clicking sound is typical of a bad battery and not the starter itself. If you replaced the starter based on that noise alone w/o trying another battery then you may have replaced a good part.
