L.Cash Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I recently purchased a 2003 GS300 w/ 79,000 miles. A few days ago, my CEL came on, and the VSC lights. I took the car by Autozone today and got the code. It's P0420. The description says: Catalyst efficiency below threshold - bank 1. Does anybody have any idea what this means and what the repair would possibly be? I appreciate any help.
dcfish Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Either your cat needs replacing or the post cat 02 sensor is shot. Welcome to the club
L.Cash Posted February 9, 2011 Author Posted February 9, 2011 Either your cat needs replacing or the post cat 02 sensor is shot. Welcome to the club Thanks for the welcome, and I appreciate the help! I got a 3yr/36K miles service contract on the car when I bought it, so regardless of what the repair is going to be, I will only be out $100 for the deductible. :)
