When I press the button in the console, the light on the dash comes on for a little while then goes away. I assume when the light is off you are driving in 2wd. I know AWD kicks in when you start to slip, but is there a way you can just drive in AWD in bad weather, and it stays in AWD??? Thanks! See page 239 of the 2010 RX 350 Owner's Manual: "All-wheel drive lock mode is canceled when the vehicle speed exceeds 25 mph (40 km/h)." Any 4WD owner/driver with a decent level of experience will tell that you DO NOT want both drivelines engaged once up to a decent speed. You could add a switch w/resistor to keep the rear clutch engaged but you would need to open that new circuit if/when the brakes are applied, including for TC and VSC. Maybe not, at least not at any level that will have a positive effect. AWD kicks in PRE-EMPTIVELY anytime it is expected the conditions are such that you may slip. Mostly during low speed acceleration and when turning, the latter in order move at least some of the engine torque to the rear and thereby dedicate more front tire traction to the lateral, directional control, requirement. If slip actually develops, AWD or no, then TC will activate INSTANTLY and begin braking the slipping (front) wheel(s) while simultaneously fully dethrottling the engine.
