Removing Stain (Probably Some Kind Of Paint) From Seat

Greetings,

I lend my vehicle to my sister in law, and while she had the vehicle, it got some kind of stains(blueish/greenish) all over on one of the 3rd row seat.I am not sure what it is, but it looks like some sort of color paint. I tried removing using the usual dish washer but it didn't help. I am wondering if someone can suggest a better way to improve the look of the leather(something which does not damage the leather during cleaning).

I have attached a few picture if it can help you determine the nature of stain and possible solution.

Many Thanks for reading my message.

First upload your photo/image to a filehosting website, for example imageshack. When uploaded, you get a referral link to your image. Copy this 'link'. Next 'edit' your message and hover with the mouse above the icon toolbar. If you select the icon which resembles an image, you get a small balloon with: 'insert image'.

Click on this icon and a small window pops up. Now you can paste your referral link into it. Click OK, save and voila.

If the stain wouldn't come out wih dishwashing detergent, I don't think you're going to be able to get it out.

The first step is finding out what the stain is. Can you ask your sister in law what it might be? If its a natural stain (like blood or tomao sauce), you might be able to "bleach" it out with hydrogen peroxide or something of that nature. But if it's a type of "dye" (like watercolor paint or pen ink) then there's not much you can do. As soon as it soaks into the fibers of the leather, all you can do it re-dye the leather (basicaly cover it up).

Try to get some pics posted if you can... But I would contact your lexus dealer and ask to see their leather people, as they should be able to feather some dye in the area and make it good as new. Small touch up repair won't set you back more than $25, especially since there's no prep work, just a respray.

DON'T try to clean it with anything other than something you would feel comfortable putting on your skin. Chemicals on the aggressive side can remove some of the leather dye. Stick to soapy water or a woolite:water mix with a cotton cloth.

Good luck

My sister in law does not know what happened to the seat, she noticed it a few days before she returned the vehicle. The seat was kept folded while it was in her use.

The stains are pretty much embed into the leather.

Is Lexus spray available at dealership only. I dont know hoe effective it can be. but anything that can reduce the stain visibility will help.

Well it's not really a specific "lexus" dye... Every Lexus dealer has connections with a leather specialist and calls them in whenever any of their cars (either being prepped for CPO or if a customer requests it) need leather work.

The leather people know what they're doing... I had them re-finish some spots on the seats in my old Rx300, and it came out GREAT.

It's definitely your best bet. It'll look brand new by the time they get done with it. <_<

Oh man, she ruined your leather. She set you back about a grand worth of labor, no offense, but I'd collect on that ASAP !

Is there any warranty on the recoloring of the leather? I heard that re-dyeing effectively reduce the life time of the leather. Also as far as I know the leather on lx470 is coated for better protection. I dont know if dyeing is going to be a good idea.

I spoke to one mobile detail person who advertised on Craigslist. I wonder whether I should trust the mobile leather person to do a good job.
