isguy
I was washing my wife's 2008 IS 250 the other day and noticed that both lenses for the courtesy lights on the bottom of the sideview mirrors were broken. There were absolutely no marks or indications of any damage on the mirrors. We live in a cold climate and I suspected that perhaps water got into them during the winter, froze, and cracked the lenses. The car only has 22,000 miles on it so I took it to the dealer for repair under warranty. Dealer says they have never seen that so they won't fix it. Best offer I got was for them to pay for one new mirror and I would have to pay for the other. The kicker is that the lenses themselves (probably a 50 cent part) apparently can't be replaced alone and you have to replace the entire assembly at $600 apiece. Anyone else have a problem with these lenses cracking? Any suggestions how to get this fixed under warranty?
1990LS400
Call Lexus customer service and consider sending your information to them in a letter. I've had all sorts of little odd things fixed while our Lexus and Toyota cars were under warranty and I don't understand why your claims are being refused. Crap, I'm a Toyota Motor company shareholder and I sure want Toyota to fulfill warranty claims.
