Redfish
Can you guys chime in what you think is the best performance mod for the money. I have a 1994 GS300 with 180K, but a perfect exterior. I know a turbo is the most effective, but since I have alot of other stuff to do to the car, I am looking for a few quick, relatively inexpensive upgrades that will give me a little extra power. intakerGS
No such thing as inexpensive mods and noticable gain in HP. The only way to increase HP is to put more air and fuel into the combustion chamber. There are the obvious mods: cold air intake, open element air filters and free flow exhaustsystem (expensive). These can give a more responsive feeling to the engine and perhaps some better acceleration. Other expensive stuff: a performance torque converter (.5 sec performance gain), modded ECU/Chips, A/F computer and lightweight (engine) parts. Even with the expensive stuff installed, you might not get satisfying results in relation to overall cost. In terms of 'low' costs, you might benefit the most from a low restriction air intake and -exhaustsystem, just don't expect any wonders. TRDGS300
5k is a steep dive. considering i find those motors on other forums for under 2k. look hard enough you can find one for less. are you doing the labor yourself as well?
