Steering Issue

When I am moving at very low speeds, my steering wheel creaks when turning. It is usually when I am making a big turn and the wheel is making a couple of revolutions. I do have a leaky boot on my rack, but this happens when the power steering reservoir is full. Has anyone seen this before?

That sounds like the air control valve on the bottom of the P/S pump. It adds vacuum to the P/S at very low turning speeds so it will not creak or shudder and is connected to the air intake and to the top front of the engine intake by 2 vacuum hoses. Either one or both hoses are leaking or the valve if shot. I replaced the valve with a simple bolt (95 cents) or you could replace the valve (107.00). If the valve is leaking you will eventually fry the alternator... Bobby

My 95 LS was creaking when steering, even with the ignition off. It began to happen after a mechanic changed my high pressure hose. After several months a Lexus specialist told me the other guy had loosened the rack and pinion to put the high pressure hose on, but never put it back properly. He said it was just missing a screw or a bolt. He fixed it for free, and I was happy.

This is my new guy. He's cool as hell
