Missing A Gear

Recommended Posts

Hello,

 My car runs very accelerated with the OVD off light (on Position).

I have tried pressing the OVD on and it does gets to like 400RPM higher.

Right now its running at 70MPH with 3000RPM.

Does any body knows what could be wrong with the trany or the engine?

Perhaps this topic should go to the ES forum.

As I read you correct, car won't engage into overdrive. Is there a Check Engine Light involved?

Some possibilities:

- your coolant/thermostat/sender is faulty and ECU assumes engine is cold, therefore not engaging OD.

- although not likely, solenoids in the transmission are faulty.

- some other form of problem, lack of maintenance etc, running the car in safe mode.

I suggest you check first possible stored OBD codes at a shop or dealer.

Transmission started to slip on reverse and I took it for repair, oil and filter change. After re-installing the transmission the high RPM came up.

The OVD does work and does a diference on the RPM when I apply it. I will take it for OBD scan as u sugest.

Thanks.
