sigtauenus Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I noticed today when I turned off the car that the antenna was grinding as it went down. I assume this means I need to replace the motor/cable assembly in the mast. Any tips on this? Is it something I can do myself?
sigtauenus Posted July 23, 2010 Author Posted July 23, 2010 Disregard, I found the directions. http://rx300how2.home.comcast.net/~rx300how2/antenna_mast_replacement.htm
code58 Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Disregard, I found the directions. http://rx300how2.home.comcast.net/~rx300how2/antenna_mast_replacement.htm Sig, is the white nylon gear strip broken? They almost always are and if so, it requires the removal of the trim in the R quarter panel and disassembly of the antenna motor housing to remove the broken piece, otherwise the new one won't go all the way down.
sigtauenus Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 It is still working all the way up and down, its just grinding. I think if I change it soon I might get lucky. I saw in that other topic instructions on taking the motor apart to remove the pieces.

I saw in that other topic instructions on taking the motor apart to remove the pieces. I used WD40 and a little light grease on the antenna - that cured mine.
