98 400 Transmission Starting To Slip Out Of Gear For A Moment

Recommended Posts

98 GS400, 203,000 miles, original owner. Transmission slipping for a moment out of drive while in auto mode. Any thoughts before I find a shop to diagnose would be appreciated.

When was the last time you checked your trans-fluid, or perhaps replaced it? Are there any OBD codes to read?

Low fluid can get gears shift sloppy or delayed and the transmission may slip between shifts.

When the problem is not low fluid (or condition of it), a faulty sensor, solenoid, valve body or controller may be cause. It's adviced to take it to a specialized and qualified bodyshop for correct diagnose.

Good luck.
