Please help. I've got a '97 LS400, 192,000, runs great and no smoke. It started randomly cutting out and then dies. At first it was hardly noticeable and it would not die, now it's more frequent and almost always dies. Nothing obvious under the hood, cleaned the throttle body and replaced the spark plugs and the problem still exists. The following misfire codes come up repeatedly, P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0307 and P0308. It happens at all speeds and seams to happen more often in warm weather.

P0300 is a random/multiple cylinder misfire detected. Appearently, all of your cylinders misfire and have something in common. Check your CAM timing (or sensor)first and perform a cylinder compression test (perhaps a head gasket issue).

Other culprits may be leaky seals, presence of oil could cause the coil and plugs to foul and

misfire.

Since the ignition is split with each set of 4 cylinders on separate coils, distributors, wires, cam sensors, it would appear to be an ignition issue common to all eight cylinders. Perhaps a bad connector somewhere or ignition switch on the fritz. Can you gently jiggle the ignition switch while running and see if you get any cutting out or erratic engine behaviour? (admittedly, its a long shot).
