gdiodati Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 I am the original owner of a 2000 LS400. Recently the power steering system started leaking through what the mechanic says is the High pressure power steering hose. I nearly fell over when he said it is a dealer only part at $400.00, plus labor. Does anyone have a line on buying this OEM? I can do basic mechanical work, I don't think this would be difficult to change. Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

RDM Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 An aftermarket hose will be a lot cheaper and should have a good warranty with it, as far as replacing it's pretty easy to do since it runs underneath the engine.
SRK Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Take the entire assembly off the car and go to a good Aeroquip or industrial hydraulic shop - that provides hoses for bulldozers and such. They'll crimp a new hose onto the existing fittings for probably less than $50.00 and you'll be good to go.
gdiodati Posted July 19, 2010 Author Posted July 19, 2010 Thanks for all your responses. I appreciate the assistance. Greg
