easyE Posted June 1, 2010 Share Posted June 1, 2010 Hi my check engine light and trac off light came on, I took it to a garage and they said it was a code 0171, and that the MAF sensor needs to be replaced. Does this sound right and I have read that i can possibly clean it. If this is true can any one walk me thru this and if possible provide pics. Many thanks to all. Many thanks to all. yea 0171 can be the Mass Airflow Sensor. Sometimes all you would need to do is clean it. it's fairly easy to do and fairly easy to access really. since it's connected to the air intake tube (where the air filter goes). you should get some MAF cleaner from autozone. try YouTubing if possible to find it or just get a haynes toyota manual from autozone. they're good even if you might only need to use it a few times. hopefully just cleaning it helps.
