kuziwk Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Any tips? The rubber is hard, what if pieces crack into the crankcase? Shouk I try a heatgun?
RDM Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 PCV. Not PCP. The grommet always dries up and breaks apart, it just falls into a small valley in the valve cover, not down into the cylinder head. Break it as little as you can, then use a pick, needle nose pliers, or anything similar to get the pieces out of the area they fall into.
landar Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 You might also clean the old grommet of oil/grease and cut a piece of adhesive tape (like duct tape) to go over the grommet. When the grommet starts to break apart, the smaller pieces will adhere to the tape and make the cleanup easier.

Is there a tool i can use besides pliers?
dpellet Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Steady pull pressure and a figure 8 motion. It will eventually come out. Mine was old and took a bit to get out as well.. Pliers worked for me but I replaced it with a new one anyway. Regards,
