audobon Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Whats up guys? Im in need of a few answers pertaining to my LS. The car starts, and stays running but only when you put alot of RPMs into it,it dies. It idles at 0.75 rpms and takes its random gasps of air which cause the rpms to jump up a very little amount. I can safely do small revs but if i do a hard rev,as the rpms are coming back down it dies out. I can smell fumes coming from underneath the car and also there is a loud rattling sound like something has come loose but that is mainly it. The car has 316k on it,i dont know if that means time to give it up or if it still has a little life left in it. Thanks guys. if you have any questions,or if i didnt make it clear enough hit me up!

With 316k miles (and who knows what kind of maintenance life), it could be a number of things. Perhaps a dirty/sticky IACV but with fumes and rattling you should probably consult a local mechanic.
steve2006 Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 A common problem is the failure of the coil on the drivers side of the engine and going by your description I would check this out 1st. There are of course other possibles spark plug wires, spark plugs, rotor arms, distributor caps.
billydpowell Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 You should have a check engine lite on, what are the codes?
