pleas e be more specific about the problem. did the volume got restored after you turned off the radio? did it got restored after you shut down the car? does it work now? what do you mean by loss of volume? was it still playing but with the lower volume? was there any distortion? how was the sub output? what kind of system you got in your car?

91 lexus with pioneer sound system. The radio turn on but the sound output is so low. I turn the volume up all the way but I can barely hear anything. All speakers output some sound but very low eventhough the volume is max. The problem has been going on for a week. I check all the fuses and they are ok. Thank you very much for your help.

It's possibly your Head unit. On my LS, the Factory Pioneer was showing signs of wear, similar to yours, but I never fixed it. I ended up replacing the entire Stereo Unit. At this time, I would suggest getting some pricing from United Radio or a Pioneer Remanufacturing company near you. This is just in case we can't answer your question.

Sorry

nu nu is it the same for FM AM stations and tape?

if they all work fine then check all the cables to the amp. your amp located in the trunk check for continuity in the cables. let me know of the result and we will proceed to another steps.

thanks for reply VMF. It is the same for AM/FM and tape. I did open the trunk and check the wire bundle to the pioneer amp. Everything looked intact. I tapped the amp and the wire lightly with radio on but nothing change. I'm wandering if it is because of the amp failure?

I got this lexus just a couple of weeks ago. I will try to remove the head this weekend when I am off from work. What do you suggest me to do after I remove the head unit? I appreciate your help.

VMF, UCF, I have a good news for you. This morning when I started the car, the volume works as good as before. I don't know how long it will stay good. However, I still like to figure out what caused the problem in the beginning. I found this link on the web. Check it out. I tried to look for the connector they described but I can't find it. Thank you all of you who's trying to help me.

I removed the rear seat but I could not find the connector they described. All I saw was wire bundles and I checked throughly on both sides but no sign of the connectors. I tapped on the wires and the connector to the amp, but It didn't help. suddenly this morning when I started the car It worked again. There must be ghost in my car.

I don't think you'll find an orange connector. In my opinion, your First Stage Troubleshooting helped, but your instincts are correct. I'm thinking one of your head connector may have a loose wire, but I won't be able to help you with the troubleshooting since I don't have the Wiring diagram. VMF, do you have the second or third repair book with the wiring diagrams?
