you will never be able to find any kind of new alternator unless it is a brand new car with warrenty as the rest just go back as a core charge and get rebuit

a new one might be 700 if you found it anywhere but it is no difference as it is only the old casing cleaned but with brand new internals

I replaced the factory Bosch alternator at 128,000 miles. That's great except the NEW Bosch alternator is not as good as the original. I paid my mechanic, a foreign car specialist, $440 for the new (not reman) alternator including installation. I was okay with that in that I would have replaced the alternator in an american sedan at around 70,000 miles. The problem is manufacturing is just not what it once was - even at Bosch. The new alternator only produces 11 volts at 700 rpm, so leaving the car idle with the air on drains the battery. Today I am going to clean the IACV following the step by step instructions on this site and I'll let you know if the idle speed increases. I am hoping that an idle speed increase to around 900rpm will be enough for the alternator to produce over 12 volts continuously.

A couple of things. There was an issue with the pulley size on this engine being the wrong size causing a voltage drop at idle. That may be the issue with yours because otherwise, there is something wrong with your alternator. 700 rpm is normal idle speed for this engine, cleaning the iacv won't change that.

375 for a reman. for my 04 ES. 86000 miles. thats from the dealer, In a bind, holiday weekend. Just had timing belt and water pump and belts replaced, thought the wining sound was from that work. First repair on this car other then normal oil changes, tires, brakes and filters. Can't complain, great car.

That sounds like your crankshaft outer section is slipping compared to its inner section. Since the outer section powers the belt which drives your alternator, low alternator output results.

Are your driving lamps unusually dim compared to well-performing systems? That's another indicator to check for a failed adhesive bond between your crankshaft pulley's inner and outer section.
