How Do U Put The Headlight Assembly Back On?

i was able to removie the assembly amd now i cant put it back on! there's a black little thingy that doesnt bend easily and i cant push the assembly down to fit it in. ;)

long story short... i hit a pole a while back. the damage? both headlamp housings have cracks and this...

how its suppose to look like.

that black metal thingy is not meeting the bumper. this is making it hard to put the headlamp assembly back on.

i dunno if its the bumper or something hard and metal that is bent. ;)
