I'm currently looking for a used 2008 LEXUS IS250 AWD. I found one that I'm interested in but unfortunately it's registered as Corporate fleet vehicle. The car has 14K miles and seems that the car has good records (service 3 times 5000, 9000, 14k miles).

The thing that worries me, is it OK to buy a corporate fleet car? I realize the interior and exterior won't be as clean as a private own car.

Some people say that people who drive a corporate fleet car wouldn't take as much care as if his own car. He knows that he's going to get rid of it in a year or two which logically make sense.

On the other hand, if it's a toyota I would worry more but since it's a lexus, I assume lexus targets a person that has higher level, I mean the guy who was driving this vehicle should be manager, similar or higher which I reckon will be more mature in handling the car?

Give me some thoughts guys! about the pro and contra, need a car asap! :)

Look the car over very carefully if cosmetics are your concern, Obviously maintained by the dealer, So mechanics should be spot on. Look close at everything. I would not be too hesitant if the price is right. B)

^^^dc is right on. Without seeing the car, it sounds like it was maintained well. Just look it over carefully. Maybe bring a friend who you know has an eye for detail. But really, buying an 08 with low miles is really a smart buy!

Let us know how it turns out!

Is that risky though?

Well the car was owned in Columbus, OH. I assume people in OHio drive calmer than Cali maybe? :P

Is there any chance for the car to be a public "rental" car instead of company's car. What I mean it was used for a rent like in enterprise, budget, etc instead for company's executive business trip.

Thanks heaps for your thoughts guys

If they'll let you, take it to a Lexus dealer. They'll do a thorough inspection for about $100 and if it was serviced by Lexus can look up the service records and verify that any TSB's were done.

Also how good is the price on this car compared to what may be one owner cars on a Lexus lot?

well actually the car is being offered by the lexus dealer and the history reports says all the services were done by Lexus. That's why I'm pretty confident about the maintainance.

I just need more opinion to convince myself lol

Well if it's for sale at a Lexus dealer it's most likely certified and if that's the case you don't have anything to worry about, the warranty covers as much as a new car warranty does.

Still the question, is it a good deal? Or did I miss that? If you've gone over it and it isn't beat out inside and looks good outside, it's still under original warranty, then what else can anyone here do for you?

I have noticed that the car does a pretty good job of not letting you damage it (at least engine-wise). Not like buying a used Mustang GT and wondering about the previous owner :)
