Yes.

In fact you must remove the timing belt as well. The belt drives the pump.

Actually in this car, the drive belt/serpentine belt drives the water pump. I replaced mine last week. However, you must remove not only the timing belt, but also the camshaft sprockets to remove the rear timing plate because part of the water pump is behind that.
