peterlim55
Hi. The latch on the trunk of my 2007 IS250 won't catch the hook on the bottom because the latch seems to rest in the "open" position instead of the "closed" position. Therefore the trunk does not lock nor stay closed. Any thoughts? Thanks.
bartkat
The latch will be "open" when you look at it. It closes when the striker engages the round bar at the bottom of the trunk. Open the trunk all the way and take a small screw driver and push up on the flat part of the moving latch. The latch should pop closed. If it does, cycle a few times, by releasing with the button above the license plate, closing and then releasing. It that's working it should latch and close. If it doesn't cycle, then there is soemthing wrong with the mechanism and it needs replaced. Also make sure the part the latch hooks into at the bottom of trunk is in position and hasn't come loose and got pushed down so the latch can't engage. Ron6437
I have had the same issue on my 06 GS 300 and was able to correct it by pulling on the yellow handle inside the trunk that is used for opening the trunk from inside....apparently the handle got stuck in the open position
peterlim55
Thanks for the responses. I did a few things and one of them did the trick.
