bird Posted March 1, 2003 Posted March 1, 2003 I recently purchased a 1992 Lexus SC400. In the center dash/console directly right of the radio/AC controls is a vertical slot that is 5" long, 1" wide, and 2" deep. Can anyone tell me what this is for? I have seen numerous pictures of interiors on ebay, and many have the empty slot, and many have something in the slot like a contoured handle. Thanks. Bird
AWJ Posted March 1, 2003 Posted March 1, 2003 That is a slot for a cup holder. On the 92&93 models there was no cupholder (at least for usdm models). I think in 94+ models the cupholder was given to us. Why, I don't know. You may purchase the cupholder and install it. My 93 didn't have the cup holder, but the 95 does. I'll post some pictures. Here is my old 93 interior - note the empty space.
bird Posted March 2, 2003 Author Posted March 2, 2003 AWJ, Thanks for the pics and information on the cup holder. It now makes sense to me what the slot is for. Bird
Sc400 Tuner Posted July 5, 2003 Posted July 5, 2003 I know this may sound like a stupid question, but I cant seem to find the answer so here goes. I bought a cup holder for my 93 sc400, and went to put it in, and there is this blocker plate that covers up(I assume) where the cup holder clips onto. it has two felt coated tabs in there, ive tried to pull it out/ pry it out by the tabs to no avail. Is there some trick to this I am missing? how does that thing come out?!?!?! Thanks for any help. EDIT: I must be blind, cause a link to the tutorial was 3 threads down! http://www.lexuspros.com/tutorial6.htm
