SofritoLay
Hello all Im new to this website and just wanted any pointers on my 98 GS400. I bought the car from my father, it has around 165k on it but its in great condition and runs beautifully. Im not a car guru but ever since Ive owned this car Ive been nothing but curious on ways to make it better. All Ive done so far is exterior stuff. Rims, headlights, soundsystem, headlights, tint etc.... the only problems this car has ever given me was the balljoints which i replaced and the battery. So for all the experienced 2nd gen GS owners out there, I would like to put an extra 2 grand into it somewhere. any suggestions would be most appreciated. I'm thinking of a body kit maybe. THNX :D

Lucky13
Sounds like youd enjoy having it droped. You coukd do that with 2k if your careful.
nc211
I'd put that $2k away in the bank for when repairs are needed. If all that has needed to be done in 165k miles is lower ball joints....then I'd expect a few items to surface in the not too distant future as well. Couldnt agree more .....there will be something that requires $$ to fix coming, also are you going to drive this into the ground? I know its a lexus and will run and run and run, and 165,000 miles on this car is not the same as 165K on a Pontiac, but at some point you have to consider how cost effective it is to put $2K into a car you may sell in a year or two. Maybe fresh paint? Good luck w. it. Let us see whatever mods you do decide on. You could order some Escorts to drive around w. you for the weekend and make the car look really HOT haha
djspawn00
Maybe some quality suspension upgrades... I have a set of bilsteins on tannabe NF210s and a set of KYB's on NF210's if you're interested in a set.

kreator
You could order some Escorts to drive around w. you for the weekend and make the car look really HOT or you could get some game and use your own gf, like i do :) I see you modded your car stereo quite a bit, Sakataj, so maybe you can help me out... I have a 1998 GS300 with OEM nav and radio system (integrated controls for A/C and touchscreen lcd). I want to put in some aftermarket amps and subs, but do you know where I can tap in into the oem stereo? Do you know which wires (colors) are the speaker wires directly out of the radio, going to the factory amp behind the dash? I want to divert to sound through a Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty pre amp unit, but I'm not sure if it can handle the power (voltage) coming out of the amp... however I can't find the sound wires going into it.... any suggestions?
