Steering Vibrations?

Hello,

Just purchased a 98 LS400 w/ 93k miles, when driving over bumps in the road, I can feel the steering column vibrating slightly, though the steering wheel itself is solid.

Is there a steering damper/bushing that could wear out in these cars (are there any pictures of it)?

Is this adjustable, can I inspect/tighten the connection?

I've already verified that the suspension/shocks/control arm bushings are fine and that the wheels are in balance and no dents, etc. Though on a side note, I can't believe that a car w/ 93k miles has no problems w/ worn suspension parts, but that's what my trusty mech. has told me... though he's not a Lexus specialist.

Thanks for any help!

I have only had my 93 LS400 for a few months so I cant be of much help in that area. However I have owned a F-150 for a long time it has 210,000 miles on it and has never had a suspension part replaced or had a wheel allignment done on it I am on the fourth set of tires and they have all worn perfectly.

Thanks for the reply, I suppose my experiences are skewed because this is the first Japanese car I've owned in 5 years, since now, it's been BMWs, and let me tell you, control arm bushings were a big problem at 70k miles. In fact, there were many things that were small/big problems during that time.
