shagerfs Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 first time post a great site just purchased 92 LS400 123k 1 owner Iwant to change plugs and wires need to know the breakdown on how i can get to them and what else should i replace while ive got it opened up! PLease tell me how to dismantle in steps. Hope to contrubite a some point! thanks Shager
gaknut Posted January 19, 2004 Posted January 19, 2004 Plugs are located under the long black plastic strips going down the center of each valve cover. You will need to remove about all of the black plastic covers on the front top on the engine as wires and dist caps are located under them. Pretty straightforward as you just look for the small bolts that retain them. Dist caps and rotors should be replaced at the same time. Not sure about plug wires as they are really very durable and reliable on this vehicle but it is your choice.

VMF Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 dont get those bosch things! they are bad! they brake when you pull them!!! only OEM wires and denso IK20 spark plugs! nothing else! also rotors and rotor caps should be denso too. they are OEM suppliers for toyota
