Hi Guys

So today I went to the gas station to check if my tire pressure is right. Right after I left the gas station, the check engine light/trac off light came on! Has anyone had this before? Is it caused by me checking the tire pressure? Thanks a lot. I am scared that I bought a le-sux instead of a lexus.

Welcome to LOC mcshen.....what part of Toronto are you from? Just curious.

I don't think one has anything to do with the other......just a coincidence.....might want to get the code(s) read & let us know what they are.....that will help us better diagnose the problem(s) & steer you in the right direction....check to make sure your gas cap is on tight first. ;)

Did you at least adjust your tire pressures?

I live near the beaches. Ya I did adjust the tire pressure a bit. But like you said, it shouldn't trigger the check engine light :(.

Check the gas cap, did you tighten it properly after leaving the station (if you added fuel). Otherwise, you need to take it down and have the codes read. Don't get too scared about it though, many codes are minor, if you have basic mechanical skills you could possibly fix it yourself.

I didn't gas up today. But I gased up tuesday. I remembered reading somewhere that you have to tighten it until you hear at least 3 clicks. Is 3 the magic number? I don't remember how many clicks there were. But I am pretty sure it clicked.

for that kind of money you can buy a code reader at the local auto parts store...

They didn't tell me the exact code. But they said one of the solenoids(I assume it's the transmission solenoid) had to be replaced. Does it sound reasonable? A bad solenoid and check engine light?

they replaced a solenoid in the tranny last friday. It was fine for 500k. Now the light is on again. They read the code again and the code is P0770, which is Shift Solenoid “E”. But since they've replaced it, they(Mr.Transmission) are thinking it's the toque converter?! The car drives fine even with the light on. Should I just ignore the problem? The car is at 130k KM already.
