Piranha Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 i own a 1995 ES300. i want to do the ultimate conversion. money is not and issue and neither is time. I want to convert my FWD ES300 to an AWD/ selectable 4x4 car. I know how impossible it seems especially after looking under my vehicle, but anythings possible. If anyone knows how i can achieve this please reply
dropspace Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 if money isn't an object why not just buy a loaded a4 quattro or something? that sounds like a lot of work
Piranha Posted January 12, 2004 Author Posted January 12, 2004 well its because i want my ES300 to be awd. not another car. i want it to be a project for myself. another thing im looking for is a lift kit for it. ive seen lifted RX7s and DEloreans.
JPI Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 You can use the tranny from the rx300 4wd. You will have to do a little modification to the bell-housing but everything should bolt on. The driveshaft is a little bit longer but is not problem. Also reroute your exhuast but this is a do-able project. This thing will run you around 15g. www.jpimportz.org
amf1932 Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 Unless you have a technical background in designing or re-designing transmissions, suspensions and such, plus loads, and loads of $$$, I don't suggest you try undertaking a massive project like this! Also, why-o-why do you want to do this on a 9 year old car?
FLiP Sp33d Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 i think someone's been watching too much monster garage! tonight's episode is the 200mph jet powered celica on the discovery channel!
Piranha Posted January 12, 2004 Author Posted January 12, 2004 i dont watch monster garage. they ruined a porsche 944
JPI Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 If you are serious about this project. Our shop willing to make it happen. This is not AN EASY TASK. Now, When can we start? ;) www.jpimportz.org
Piranha Posted January 13, 2004 Author Posted January 13, 2004 well i am seriously interested. i am not 100% definetly going to do this but i would like to do it when i get the time and money. Do you have a price estimate of how much this will cost?
JPI Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 parts would be around $7k-$10. Labor.....I don't know where to start...Anything can happen.....I'm very familiar with tranny on RX300 4WD. www.jpimportz.org
zeta Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 that's a massive project.. and why 4wd on an ES. i'd still really wanna just take the money... sell the car... and get an EVO :) kev
