marlon08901
I have a 1992 SC400 Lexus. I noticed that the power steering was leaking. PEP Boys estimated the repair will be $600.00. Any advise. :o This is a common problem on the 90-92 LS400 and more often, it requires changing the power steering pump gasket. On the LS400 failure to repair the power steering leak will eventually, also result on having to replace the alternator...since the alternator is right bellow the power steering pump and that is where the leaking fluid ends up (once again this is only on the LS400 and I am not sure how the set up is in your particular car). On my 90 LS400.....I actually tried using LUCAS Transmission Fluid Stop Leak (since on the LS400 - it is recommended to use Automatic Trasmission fluid for the power steering) and so far, it seems to have stoped the leak. I took out the ATF fluid from the power steering reservor and added a bottle of the LUCAS, trasmission fluid stop leak....that was about 6months ago and it has not leaked since.
