Replace Spark Plugs On 1997 Es300

Recommended Posts

The front ones took me 5 min - the rear ones took a little over an hour. I just used a sparkplug wrench with an extension but all three were still difficult to get to in their own way.

I never tried removing the throttle body... does that make it a lot easier???

I asked the shop first, they will charge me 1 hour and half labour cost. So I decided to DIY, I bought a set of spark plug wrench, read some online manual, it only cost me 30 minutes for total. I don't see any difficulty to access the rear bank. It has enough space to move your hand there.

Removing the throttle body (not the intake plenum) will make the driver's side plug and maybe the middle plug quite easy. I was able to change mine all from the passenger side with a 3/8" ratchet, the proper mix of extensions and a good spark plug socket that will capture the spark plug.
