JoeLex1 Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Hi guys, just purchased an 06' IS350. My current tire setup is 225/40-18 up front and 255/40-18 in the rears. Do I really need to go with the staggered setup? Is that just for looks or performance. Found a sweet deal on some 225/40-18's all around. Thanks! Joe
smooth1 Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 The rims are different widths. 8's on the front, 8.5 on the rear. I wouldn't recommend going to 225's all around. I have 8.5 on the front and 9.5 on the rear, and I have 225 on the 8.5. It's definately a stretched sidewall look. So your rear tires would look thinner than your fronts.

One more question. Would a combination of 225/40-18 on the front and 245/40-18 work in the rear? Thanks again. Joe
smooth1 Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Isn't the front 225/35/18? and the rear is 255/40/18. 245 in the rear would be ok I guess.

I just called DiscountTire and they told me 225/40-18 for the front and 245/40-18 would be ok for the rear. They don't carry Falken 255's for the rear. According to them the difference between the two is like 1/3 of an inch. Sorry for all the questions as I just purchased the car. Joe

I am talking to Discount Tire about a set for my IS250.
