Howdy Fellow Enlightened Drivers,

These are GREAT cars with few issues. My 1999 Gs 400 just started making these mild ,annoying squeaks when making turns. Seems to be coming from the steering cloumun ..any ideas on how to silence it?

what makes u think its the steering column kurtk? given ne thought that it maybe suspension related try checking the shocks/springs/motor mounts/tranny mount/bump stops/ball joints/bushings....start with the one that makes common sense like shocks/springs. u still running oem shocks/springs?

I know this isn't exactly the same application you have, but my Jeep developed a squeak when turning the steering wheel.

I tracked it down to the rubber bushing where the steering shaft went through the firewall. I shot it with some white lithium grease spray, and that squeak went away.

my steering wheel does that too sometimes when its very cold... it usually just goes away when the interior of the car warms up... it just sounds like plastic brushing up against rubber...

Saj,

I can tell it's from the immediate steering wheel area. Just when making minor turns ..it kinds of moans almost. small tunrs either way will ellict a small squeak. I'd like to fire away with WD 40 or something maybe silcon spray  .

My steering column sometimes lets out a loud squeal when I remove the key and the wheel retracts in. It is pretty annoying. Anybody else have this and know of a cure?
