2004es330 Battery Discharges To Dead

When the car is not driven for about a week it needs a jump start. Have had the car for about a year and half now and it has been jumped 6 times now.

The Battery was new (1 month old) when the car was purchased certified from Lexus.

The dealer has tested the battery every time it has been in for service and the battery tests perfect.

The car only has 39,000 miles.

The dealer states this is typical for "older" Lexus and actually recommended using a Battery Trickle Charger.

Have others run across this issue?

Is it reasonable to believe in good faith people are leaving these cars at airports and returning a week later having to get a jump start?

If this is a known entity within Lexus, how is it possible there was no recall issued?

I am seriously considering getting rid of this headache and going back to a reliable Lincoln that starts every time.

It is unreasonable to have the capacity so low and requiring jump starts continually.

The car is CPO. Get the dealer to find out where the steady discharge is, or replace the battery or both. It could be a sticky relay, partial short to ground, or any of a number of things.

They will be able to fix it if you make them. Do not take no for an answer. Call Lexus Customer Support Line if the dealer isn't taking care of you.

I can understand that you are frustrated, but you may be overreacting a bit to be considering throwing in the towel. The car has an issue. Fix the issue and your frustration level will return to normal.

JB welcome to the LOC! :cheers: Don't give up that quickly. A batt charger is always a good tool to have, but shouldn't be a replacement for a proper diagnosis. Your dealer should check your serp belt to make sure it's not slipping. Next they should load test both the batt and alt. If they both check out, then you have a parasitic drain for them to find.
