make a long story short, had a dead battery, put a new one in my RX330. wont jump start. smelled a little burning smell, pulled the cover off the fuse box thinking maybe the ingnition fuse burnt up. tried to find the ingnition fuse they are all labeled inside the fuse box to the right of the battery, but cant find one that would be labeled ignition or something like that. am i looking in the right place for a fuse problem.... the battery has a full charge. and it will try and crank for about a second after the car sat all day after replacing the battery. its dark out, soo im trying to check fuses with a flashlight, not working so well... any help is appreciated. thanks

Hi there,

Not sure if it will help -- just some thoughts...

If it cranks for a second but then happens nothing, this might be a bad capacity battery, normally it happens with new batteries if they were kept in cold (did you check it when you bought it?). Check the indicator on the battery first, it should be green if okay. Also check that the leads are firmly connected to the battery.

Maybe a good idea to check each fuse one by one as the problem may be in many areas e.g. battery, starter, etc. In any event, the designation of fuses should be at the back of the owner's manual. If you dont have the manual by hand, you can find it in the net for free -- start with WWW.MANUALS.WS.

If the fuses are okay, it might be a prob with a starter...

What you can also do is check the systems via the service manual. Not sure about RX, but to access it in GX, you have to hold the info button for 5 secs and turn on and off the parking lights 3-5 times in succession. Then a menu appears, listing different systems -- you'd have to wait while the car checks them. After that, you'd either have "ok" reported on all systems or, I would think, a failure code, which you could google to see what it means. If the system check does not start, do the same procedure again (i.e. info button and playing with parking lights) to enter further service menus, I think there are 3 of them which come one by one each time you do the procedure...

Good luck!
