98 Gs 400 Loud High Pitch Noise From Inside Cabin

Recommended Posts

98 GS 400

I was driving my car when a loud high pitch noise sounds from the inside cabin. I opened the windows and the noise was definately coming from the front inside cabin. I came to a complete stop and the noise continued. It almost sounded as if my radio was trying to receive a signal however, the radio was completely off. This is the second time this has happened, always at low or no speeds, very weird. Each time I heard it, I thought it was the radio but it is not. Has anyone ever experienced this and/or what could it be???

I never have time to open the hood while the noise is sounding. It comes on then off in about 5 - 10 seconds. I can hear it really loudly when I am holding on the brakes. Checked the brakes, their good.

Sounds like you have the infamous phantom radio - a ghost in the machine! :P Just kidding. Have you actually lifted the hood to check if it's coming from the engine compartment?

Have someone start the car while you're under the hood. My guess it's your belt.
