motoroil Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 The tranny performance button near the shifter (on autos), I know its for performance, but what does it really do? Does it make you shift later? (allowing you to reach higher rpms?) What does it actually do?
motoroil Posted January 7, 2009 Author Posted January 7, 2009 overdrive... No, not the overdrive button--thats located on the actual shift lever. I'm talking about the button on the console next to the shift lever.
Lexusfreak Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Post a pic.....I've owned 2 ES's....neither one had (or in my current case has) that button you mention.
motoroil Posted January 7, 2009 Author Posted January 7, 2009 Here's a picture of the button, I labeled them-- What does that button actually do? (Other than give 'performance transmission function') Shift at higher RPMs, etc.. ??
Lexucan Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Here's a picture of the button, I labeled them-- What does that button actually do? (Other than give 'performance transmission function') Shift at higher RPMs, etc.. ?? Yes, the car will shift gears at higher RPMs when in POWER mode - for passing on an uphill grade etc.
maxmix Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 The button actually changes the gear ratios from a 4 speed to a 3 speed in the transmission.
