mickstix25 Posted December 19, 2008 Share Posted December 19, 2008 My gas cap had serious pressure build up....then after the car ran out of gas one day...I heard a small poof noise...now I smell raw fuel coming from the trunk where the tank is ....could there be a gas line that split or came off going to the tank..that has caused it...the smell of gas is unbearable at times..the car still runs great even with 235,000 miles...so i really want this problem resolved...any help guys would be greatly apprieciated Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

There's an overflow hole in the filler pipe, and any leak in the cap allows the gas to escape. Happened to me. Stunk up my garage. Hope this is the problem-minor fix. Best of luck. don corleone Posted December 22, 2008 Share Posted December 22, 2008 checking the gas tank is easy. in your trunk there are some small screws that hold the carpet to the back. if you look on the top and unscrew the screws you can see the gas tank and probly see if or where it is leaking from Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
