CUMan
Your hood struts have lost their charge. Replacement struts are available on the internet at reasonable prices. Be prepared for "sticker shock" if you buy replacement struts at a Lexus dealer. Replacement struts available at most auto parts places cannot easily be installed. The ball joints on the OEM Lexus struts are permanently attached to the struts and cannot easily be removed. The replacement struts you buy should come with new ball joints. Those being sold on the internet usually include the ball joints.
eatingupblacktop
Make sure you buy oem compatible direct fit (not universal) replacement struts, otherwise you could wind up with a bent hood. Can't remember who posted some pics of their hood with aftermarket struts that were either too long or had too much pressure. The hood was bowed. Do a search to read up and see the pics.
