EBM Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Hello all, I am considering purchasing a 2006 GS430 and have been wondering how this vehicle handles in snow. Would it be comparable to an Altima? I'd hate to buy one then be constantly stuck or slipping and sliding through the winter. thanks in advance
SKperformance Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 The GS is only as good as the snow tires you install on them. It is rear wheel drive and high horsepower , the altima is a very weak comparison which it is barely. It is front wheel drive a lower powered . they both will handle very differently in winter. The altima will get you through snow better but the GS with snows will not get stuck.
The G Man Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 The GS430 is as good in the snow as any other 300 HP RWD sedan, it is bad :)
MidNightGS430 Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Both SKperformance and The G man have good points!! And comparing an Altima to a GS430 is Apples To oranges....NO comparison. Your best bet is to have a 4 wheel drive Truck or SUV for back up!! The snow buttons may help, But depending how good of a driver you are will determine how you can get through the snow. But just remember that kind of power laid to the rear wheels makes it pretty easy to break em loose and get you sideways if your not careful!!
EBM Posted December 13, 2008 Author Posted December 13, 2008 Thanks , I think I got my answer and not surprised. Its been quite some time since I've driven a RWD car.
