Skizz Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Hi all, I just test drove a 2000 SC 300 that I'm contemplating purchasing. It appeared to be in great condition, except that I noticed, upon braking at lower speeds, that there was a grumbling sound that could be heard and felt underneath the seats. Any ideas on what this could be? I'm having my mechanic check it out on Monday before making the purchase, just thought I'd post and get some of your opinions as well. Thanks all, Scott
LEX_MAN Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Could be the brakes grinding ,needs to be changed. Metal on metal.
eatingupblacktop Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Check how much is left on the pads. Check if there is debris stuck in between the pad and the rotor.
Dens Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 yea i have the same problem but on sc400 , going to the shop today ill let you know later on

Thanks all, Scott Of course it could be brake pad/rotor noise, but it could also be lower control arm bushings. Have someone apply and release the brakes going o to 1 mph, repeatedly. Watch the front wheel. If it moves front to back, it should be LCA bushings. Good luck
DaveMcKenz Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Well, for me it was lower control arm bushings (front) and thanks to Gordon at Carsons Toyota I got a pair of Supra LCA's delivered for $476. I tried to DIY but I couldn't get the ball joint apart, so I had my local indy mechanic do the job. Huge difference. Feel like a car 10 years younger!
acelondon Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Rusty Rotors? Happens every time my Charger sits for a while. Goes away with some braking.
