droppedlexus Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 My gs300 starting over heating on a 20 min trip to the store. I noticed some white smoke coming out of the hood of my car. I took it to my mechanic today and he said it's the heater core....I didn't know that the heater core could overheat my car. I also wanted to know where I could possibly buy an aftermarket one?
djspawn00 Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 If you're losing coolant from your heater core do to a leak then your car is overheating because of no coolant... as far as aftermarket goes... PROLIANCE Part # 399284 for about $200 from rockauto.com

droppedlexus Posted November 4, 2008 Author Posted November 4, 2008 thanks for the info......although that rockauto part is only for 2002-2005....so I may have to go to the dealer. this is going to cost me!
djspawn00 Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 if its a dealer part use sewell lexus or carson toyota... don't walk into a dealer and buy one... they will bend you over without any vaseline.... I think its $290 after shipping from carson toyota... http://www.l-tunedparts.com http://www.sewellpartsonline.com or even irontoad.com
