Change Timing Belt?

Absolutely. Anything made of rubber should be looked at on a vehicle that old, regardless of the mileage. All belts and hoses.

If your timing belt goes, it could hose your whole engine.

Best get it taken care of.

Nothing is forever. At that age you're lucky it hasn't broken already. With the '92 you don't have to worry about engine damage, but it will leave you stranded if it breaks. When doing the TB, replace the water pump along with pulleys and tensioner. Also when filling with fresh coolant, mix with distilled water only.

Hi,

Do I need to change the timing belt in the '92 SC400 if I have 29.5K miles on the car? What other things should I look at that might need to be replaced? Thanks!

if you need the "how to's" here is a link that i have been using for my SC400. I have replaced my timing belt just by following his instructions. He used the LS400 but they are the same engine so dont be scared. he will guide you point by point. hope this will help you.
