BigBuggie
Hey guys, last month I posted that my starter was cranking slower and slower, Progressively. For the last couple of weeks I've been getting mostly normal starts out of it (that is cranking the engine at its normal speed). The majority of starts now are normal, With only a slow cranking start every once in a while. As compared to before, They were mostly all slow cranks? Any ideas? Thanks, Pete
NewGuy19
I had a similar problem this summer where my car cranked over slow every once in a while. I did a little looking and it turned out i had a loose ground strap. I tightened it up, and haven't had a slow crank since then.
BigBuggie
Sounds good to me. Where should I start looking? Pete.
jcrome04
I wouldn't mind looking for some on my car either. Where is it, or are they located?
eatingupblacktop
You can also check that the starter relay is within specs, the pins are clean, and securely connected.
jcrome04
Ground straps? Lol. The Starter relay under the hood in the fuse box?
NewGuy19
I'm not exactly positive where all the ground straps are located in the car. But for me the strap that was loose was the one you have to take off when replacing the alternator. I guess the Toyota mechanic that did my alternator didn't quite get it tight again.
