$1240 For A Seat Transmission?

I went to a mechanic because my passenger seat doesn't move fwd/back on both tracks. He said the gears are stripped on one side and that I need a new seat transmission. $1240 for parts and labor. Does this sound accurate? I love the car but it's 13 years old and the seat is not really necessary to fix except to make the passenger more comfortable. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

$1240 to fix your SEAT!!! That sounds very rediculous, and like you said...it's for your passengers. With that kind of money you could make your SC one of a kind
