lexsin4304
Can you program a 91 ls400's keyless entry? If so does anyone know the programming instructions? I've tried te programming instructions listed below but it still is not working. Is there a fuse that needs/can be replaced? Can i buy another key, and if so, where at? By the way, remote key button is on. Can someone help me out plz?! This is the programming instructions I tried b4: 1. Driver's door OPEN and unlocked, all other doors closed and locked. 2. Insert YOUR key in ignition, DO NOT TURN, remove key. 3. Using the MANUAL lock/unlock button ON THE DRIVERS DOOR, slowly press lock and unlock 5 times (count the lock 5 times and unlock 5 times). 4. Shut door. 5. Open door. 6. Using the lock/unlock button ON THE DRIVERS DOOR, slowly press lock and unlock 5 times (count the lock 5 times and unlock 5 times). 7. With the door open insert your key into the ignition, turn to on position (DON'T START), wait 5 seconds. Turn off and remove key. 8. Locks should cycle once (Car will lock and then unlock once). If they don't cycle or they cycle more than once, do steps 1-7 over. 9. Now using the remote, push lock button, hold for one second, release. The locks should cycle once. If not, start over and go slower. 10. Close the door. Open the door. Press the lock button on the remote. The locks should cycle. Close the door. Press the lock button on the remote, the doors should lock. Press again and the doors should unlock.
TA in KC
No, you cannot program keys/remotes to LS400s prior to 1995. You can have a maximum of 2 remote keys at a time. They are "programmed" by installing a ROM chip that is paired to them in the keyless entry ECU, located on the left side of the trunk interior. If you need to add another remote key, your best bet is to buy a new set of 2 keys and ROM chip from a place like Sewell Lexus Parts. That package runs about $250. Your original keys will still work, but keep in mind that the remote function will only work on the 2 new ones if you go that route.

I just bought a 93 400 and I have pretty much the same problem. I used the directions above to "reset" the key I have and it did not work. I also replaced the battery in the key and it still ddi not work. Do I have to just reseat the ROM chip and try the process over? Are there pixs on the forum for that chip. I have read where it is located, but I don't want to pull the wrong thing. D

It has a small cover with a screw that has to be removed to access it.
