Transmission Slipping

hey guys, my grand dads 92 Es300 (which sits most of the time) has a transmission problem...when you shift from P to Drive..it makes some kind of noise..like its slipping..(from how he described it, it almost sounded electrical, sound wise) but when he puts it into low gear, then shifts up thru the gears, it works fine...any ideas?

Might be due for a tranny drain & fill and filter cleaning. How many miles on the car?

Like 36,000...guess i should have said that...so its kinda weird..

It could also be one of the actuator solenoids acting up... a good tranny drain, fill, filter should be a good first start.

ok...ill let him know...but he's had/has worked on his cars for years...and he didnt seem to think it was that simple....well hopefully it is
